Mauro Atalla leads the worldwide Engineering & Technology function at Collins Aerospace. In this role, he oversees a highly skilled, accomplished network of over 17,000 engineers that spans more than 150 sites across 24 countries. They design, build, integrate and support more than 125 product lines, 1,500 operators and 70,000 aircraft. Engineering & Technology drives innovation, develops products, and provides technical support to ensure Collins Aerospace is at the industry’s forefront, continually offering differentiating solutions to delight customers.


Mauro joined Raytheon Technologies in 2000 as a staff engineer at Raytheon Technologies Research Center. Since then, he has served in a number of roles of increasing responsibility across Raytheon’s aerospace and commercial businesses. He most recently served as vice president of Engineering & Technology for Sensors & Integrated Systems (SIS), a former business unit of Collins Aerospace that comprised over 60 product lines.


Mauro earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Campinas (Brazil). He earned a doctorate in engineering mechanics from Virginia Tech, and a master of business administration from Duke University. Prior to joining Raytheon, Mauro was a research scientist in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and an associate professor in Brazil.


Mauro is the author/co-author of several patents and research publications, and serves on the Advisory Boards of Virginia Tech’s Department of Biomedical Engineering and Mechanics and the University of Michigan’s Aerospace Engineering Department.
